Green Plant - Air Filters

Green plants are good for our health.


They clean, filter,and purify the air of various toxins and pollutants. In a recent research it was proved, Atmosphere of Shimla is as laced with pollution as is Delhi. All this is because of vehicular pollution, excessive construction and use of chemicals ( plastics, detergents, liquid soaps, synthetic fibres, furniture etc.) .


Formaldehyde is really bad for our health which is released by all the things around us.


Plants absorb formaldehyde and convert into good air around us .

  • Plants that can be easily grown are herbs like- basil (tulsi),mint,coriander, spinach.
  • Aloevera- the gel is good for skin application as well as internal consumption for constipation.
  • Rubber Plant-good air cleaner.
  • Palm Trees-decorative as well as absorbs the pollutants.
  • Flowering plants can be used as good decoration pieces thereby improving the air that we breathe.



Presently there are many air purifiers available in the markets. But having plants around us is the best way to have clean air. Research shows that people suffering from respiratory tract infection like bronchitis, asthma are much better with plants around them.

Losing Weight Post Pregnancy.


Losing weight post pregnancy.

  • During pregnancy ladies gain around 10-40 Kg's of weight.
  • Ideal weight gain is 12-15 kg according to body structure.
Care should be taken about the diet.
  • Proteins should be highest in the diet-  eggs, sprouts, chicken, dals, yogurt, soybeans etc
  • Calcium is the next imp thing- milk, cheese curd, chick peas, white sesame seeds(soaked overnight and grinded ) 
  • Plenty of fruits and vegetables
  • Last is good fat.- home made white butter, or desi ghee in limited amounts
Recommended
  1. Daily walk is recommended for 30-40 mins. 
  2. Even in the last trimester the Lady should keep doing the daily chores and rest for half n hour every 2-3 hours.
  3. Movement exercises the pelvic muscles and makes labour easier and spontaneous.
How To Reduce Weight
  1. The easiest way to loose weight post pregnancy is to feed the baby.By feeding all the extra fat is converted into lactose and with in 3 months  the body starts coming back in shape.
  2. While feeding it is important to eat and drink the right kinds of food.
  3. Drink around 600-800 ml of milk everyday.
  4. Eat apples,banana, pears, every day.
  5. Eat nuts like almonds, pistachio, pine, raisins,apricots, dates everyday.
  6. Eat some good fat like white butter or desi ghee for your joint lubrication everyday.
  7. Eat proteins during the day only as it is difficult to digest at night.
  8. Eat green vegetables at night.
  9. Start your walks after a month 15 min every day.
  10. Do all chores of the baby yourself- like massaging, giving bath to the baby, feeding etc. These help in better bonding with the baby and helps you in losing extra flab.

After 3  months if you feel you have the energy you can start taking your baby  in a stroller for half an hour walk.

The mother post child birth

Today we will talk about the mother post child birth.


Usually in the Indian households the whole family is excited about the new baby specially more so if it is the first baby and also if it is male.So all the attention is on the baby and the mother 's nutrition gets neglected.

Mantra to staying fit post child birth



  • A mother's body needs to recover from the trauma of childbirth. She needs added nutrition for lactation.
  • Milk, curd, cheese should  be in the daily diet(800-900 ml).
  • Protein in the form of dal, egg, fish or chicken.
  • Coconut,almonds,pistachio are also essential
  • Green leafy vegetables and fruits-oranges,apples ,banana,papaya etc are a daily must.
  • Good fat in the form of omega 3fattyacids present in flax-seeds, olive oil, home made white butter are required to make the joints work better and the skin to get back its luster.


Postpartum depression


Postpartum depression is also common in new moms. For this the mother should have a segregated 'my' time which she is using to communicate with her friends,parents office people or at times getting a massage done or meditating.

During this time she should be stress free and relaxed knowing fully well that her husband or mother or someone is taking good care of the baby.


The Husband should also be appreciative of his wife as to how well she is handling the new role of the mother and should be supportive in handling the baby.
The touch and hug therapy works very well here too wherein it has to be reinforced into the mother that she looks as good as she used to look before.
