In the mothers womb the baby is in a very secure, warm and comfortable environment. He is floating in the amniotic fluid that takes care of all the jerks, shocks and physical movements of the mother so that the baby is at all times comfortable.
This is the very reason that these days deliveries are done in water baths. It is largely prevalent in Europe and America and is now coming to India.
Water birth is soothing, comforting and relaxing , both for the mother and the child.
The uterine contractions are more efficient due to buoyancy which improves the blood circulation thereby improving oxygenation of the muscles and so less pain for the mother and more oxygen for the baby.
Always discuss it out with your Gynecologist before you plan the kind of delivery you want.
Cutting the umbilical cord creates a feeling of being cut off from the source of life. A block of powerlessness is created. Humans is the only race where the young ones cry the moment they are born.

For Infant health:
- For an infant bright lights are in sharp contrast to the dark interiors of the womb. So the lighting should be dim in the baby's room.
- Loud noises make the baby feel un-welcome. For the first month there should be not much shouting around the baby.
- Too many people-friends relatives should not hover around thus scaring him further more.
- The use of air conditioner is also not required in the first month as baby came from a very warm place 37 degree Celsius.
- Application of eye/ear drops is also not welcomed as the delicate membrane of the eyes and ear gives the signal that it is unsafe.
The most comfortable posture for the baby is being in the mothers lap feeling assured that he is loved by all.
