Growth in Children - Part - II

In the mothers womb the baby is in a very secure, warm and comfortable environment. He is floating in the amniotic fluid that takes care of all the jerks, shocks and physical movements of the mother so that the baby is at all times comfortable.

This is the very reason that these days deliveries are done in water baths. It is largely prevalent in Europe and America and  is now coming to India.

Water birth is soothing, comforting and relaxing , both for the mother and the child.

The uterine contractions are more efficient due to buoyancy which improves the blood circulation thereby improving oxygenation of the muscles and so less pain for the mother and more oxygen for the baby.

Always discuss it out with your Gynecologist before you plan the kind of delivery you want.

Cutting the umbilical cord creates a feeling of being cut off from the source of life. A block of powerlessness is created. Humans is the only race where the young ones cry the moment they are born.
Has anyone ever seen a calf or  puppy or a kitten crying at birth? Then is it right to say that babies cry to open their lungs which are deflated till now. Well the actual reason is the shock of separation. The separation from the source(light).

The soul is entering the world with a purpose and we as parents need to help him.

For Infant health:
  • For an infant bright lights are in sharp contrast to the dark interiors of the womb. So the lighting should be dim in the baby's room.
  • Loud noises make the baby feel un-welcome. For the first month there should be not much shouting around the baby.
  • Too many people-friends relatives should not hover around thus scaring him further more.
  • The use of air conditioner is also not required in the first month as baby came from a very warm place 37 degree Celsius.
  • Application of eye/ear drops is also not welcomed as the delicate membrane of the eyes and ear gives the signal that it is unsafe.

The most comfortable posture for the baby is being in the mothers lap feeling assured that he is loved by all.

Growth in Children - Part - I

We as parents are always concerned about our children- their health, studies, growth ,height, peer
pressure etc .From today we start a series talking about all these.

The growth of the baby starts in the womb of the mother. So pregnancy is the most important time for
both the child and the mother. This is the time when the bonding between the mother and the child
happens.

At 12 weeks of age baby suck' s thumb

The child can feel every emotion of the mother. So it is very important for the mother to be happy, calm, peaceful and poised. If the mother has any fear -like fear of being alone or what if something happens etc she transmits it to the child unknowingly and the child is born with all these fears.

Research and ultrasonic pictures taken at 8 months of pregnancy show that every time the mother eats something bitter the baby moves his tongue and jerks. The more worried the mother is the more anxious the child is born.

Healthy Food
Good healthy food includes a balanced diet of proteins(eggs, fish, chicken, sprouts, dals, milk), minerals and
vitamins from green leafy vegetables(spinach, lettuce, beetroot, carrot ) and fruits like apples, banana, orange, strawberries, etc.

Milk and yogurt are essential too for calcium helps in development of the bones of the baby. Soothing music whether religious bhajans or some pious chanting s should be played in the background. Alcohol, tobacco or any other drugs are a STRICT NO during pregnancy.

"There should be harmony in the family and when all this is followed a healthy calm baby is born."
